A Farewell to Hawai’i

My husband Cory recently said “I wouldn’t want to live in a place that was easy to leave.” That being said, leaving Oahu is the hardest goodbye I’ve ever had to make. Hawai’i welcomed us with open arms and has changed our lives forever. We created a life here I never would have dreamed of having. I have found passions for marine life, surfing, and I was pushed beyond my comfort zone. Like all places though, nothing is perfect and we faced challenges. Cory worked at a Title One school that had frustrations and triumphs, and we lived minimally in a small, rundown apartment. At the end of the day, Oahu became home for us. Cory and I view Home as a feeling rather than a place, and for the first time in our adult lives, we felt that. A place has to be pretty darn special to make someone who isn’t from the area have that sense of Home. We have no regrets about packing up our lives and moving here, but now we are off to our next adventure to pursue our dreams of living internationally. Mahalo nui loa, Hawai’i. You are so so special to us and we will be back one day. ❤️
